The helmet is an 1880s example of an enlisted pickelhaube from the 2nd Wurttemberg Dragoons. When the army was reorganized just before WWl, this regiment would become Dragoon Regt. nr. 26 and have the Order of the Crown of Wurttemberg added to the front plate. The helmet is a moderately tall example and is made of a heavy leather body. It is complete with all of its silver-finished components. It retains its original convexed brass chinscales which are complete with their leather strap and
buckle. The right side of the helmet features an early, large Wurttemberg kokarde. It is fully lined with its original leather lining, and retains its drawstring. The helmet is untouched, with no extra holes, alterations, or damage. The underside of the rear visor is well-marked “2 DR 6 5 ES.1884 I”. A beautiful example of a scarce helmet, which shows some moderate
