The helmet is a German manufactured helmet which was supplied to the Nationalist Chinese Army. The shell features the correct lot number range, numbered “2912”, and shows several layers of original paint which are a smooth, low-gloss green-gray color. These helmets were manufactured between 1935 and 1937 by Eisenhuttenwerk AG. The left side of the helmet features the Chinese Nationalist Kuomintang insignia. These insignia are painted and are not decals, and measure 3 cm across. The painted finish is approximately 75%, showing some heavy wear on the left rear side. The insignia is approximately 85%, showing some uniform scuffing and wear, but is still very visible and solid. The helmet retains its original leather liner, however at some point someone has used tape around the edges to keep the liner in place, as it shows heavy wear and was most likely falling out. The chinstrap appears to be a later addition, showing heavy wear as well. All three of the liner split rivets are original and unaltered. A very rarely encountered helmet which is in overall good+/very good condition.
