The helmet is an outstanding example of an M-1927 Vickers made Irish free state army helmet. It retains approximately 80% of its original gray painted finish, and is marked “VLtd/H5359/P.07/27”. The helmet is complete with its original liner and chinstrap. Also featured is the rare helmet crest, which is attached to the helmet via two prongs. The crest has the wording in Gaelic “Oglais na hEireann” (Irish Defense Forces). The inner initials on the crest are “FF” which stands for Fianna Fail (the Republican movement). The helmet shows moderate wear from age and use, with several shallow dings to the top. The overall condition is very good+. Please be sure to review all photos.
